Emerging Artist Series
May 3, 5pm – 8pm @ Atelier
Atelier is very proud to continue its Emerging Artist Series with the work of Sarupa Sidaarth & Suzanne Taylor.
Sarupa Sidaarth returns to Atelier as alum of the M.F.A. program in Fine Art. Sarupa’s newest body of work Suspesion, seeks to transform the viewer through color, circular forms and ornamentation. Beyond its formal elements, Suspension attempts to persuade its audience to examine social perceptions of race, color and identity. A full interview with Sarupa can be found HERE.

Suzanne Taylor will graduate with a B.F.A. in Fine Art this May. Her collection Still/Agitated combines large-scale abstract pieces with small photorealist works. Each photorealist piece has a corresponding abstract piece that echoes the color pallet of the former. Through this use of the color, Suzanne has successfully created a connection between two seemingly opposite styles. A full interview with Suzanne can be found HERE.
625 Gallery
May 3, 5:30pm – 7:30pm @ 625 Gallery
For May 625 Gallery will present the works of M.F.A. graduate of Photography, Alexandra Farias. Farias’ collection of photographic images explores the inherent, albeit often overlooked, similarities between seniors and children. By juxtaposing images of youth and those of aged individuals, Farias brings to light the connections between these two groups — the fragility and restlessness found in both the young and the old.
Cannery
May 3, 5:30pm – 7:30pm @ Cannery
In May the Cannery will present a collection of works by AAU alumni, including: Steve Javiel, Cathy Locke, Scott Grabowskie, Gina Tescon and Samantha Buller.
