Naveen Patnaik Inaugurates Kalinga Art Gallery, 5 Regional Art Galleries in Odisha

Bhubaneshwar (Odisha) [India]Dec 31 (ANI): Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the Kalinga Art Gallery and five regional art galleries on Thursday.
The Kalinga Art Gallery is the largest art gallery in the state located within the premises of the state museum. The five regional art galleries have been established in five districts namely Chhatrapur (Ganjam), Puri, Balasore, Sambalpur and Koraput. The Odisha Lalit Kala Akademy has taken the initiative in establishing these art galleries.
Attending the function in virtual mode, the Chief Minister has announced that a world-class museum complex will soon see the light of day in the state. He said he led the Department of Language, Literature and Culture in Odia to develop a comprehensive master plan for a world-class museum complex with different facilities for history, art and culture.

Highlighting the cultural glory of the state, the Chief Minister said that Odisha is a great repository of rich cultural and artistic heritage.
“We have unique traditions of painting, architecture, sculpture and craftsmanship that reflect a long and diverse cultural heritage. Art runs in our blood, rooted in our minds. We have a responsibility to our artistic traditions and must do everything to protect, conserve and promote this unique tradition,” Patnaik said.
He further stated that the Kalinga Art Gallery will be a powerhouse of art and artists in the state. “It will be a confluence of artists from different regions, including artists of national and international renown. It will also help citizens and art-loving tourists to discover our glorious artistic traditions,” he added.
The Chief Minister said regional art galleries in five districts will encourage local artists to showcase their artistic creativity and promote local art forms. These galleries will be a focal point of interaction between our young budding artists, helping them learn and grow over time.
Joining the program, Minister of Tourism, Language, Literature and Culture of Odia, Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi said that these art galleries will give a big boost to our artists. (ANI)
